List of Hobbies you NEED to try this summer

List of Hobbies to tryIt’s that time of year again! Break out the sundresses and get ready for sangria on the patio. With summer around the corner, many of you may feel lost. After a long and busy term, you might feel weird about having so much free time. Over the past few weeks, I have been contemplating what to do to keep me busy for the next four months. Here are a few suggestions if you are looking for a summer hobby or activity to do.

List of Hobbies to try # 1: Write

I might be a little biased, but I think the summer is a perfect time to write. Whether you want to write poems or short stories, writing is a great past time for those hot summer days. Writing is portable and easy to do. You can go to the beach, write on the bus, or go to a cafe with a notebook and pencil. Reading writing prompts online once a day may help spark the creativity stirring inside of you!

List of Hobbies to try # 2: Read

Reading is an obvious choice. And reading does not just mean novels. You can read articles, poetry, scripts, or anything that will broaden your literary horizons. Maybe there’s a text you have been putting off for a while and now you have time to finally read it. You can even catch up on next semester’s readings, if you’re in school (however, I totally get that most people would not want to do that during their time off). Start a club and read with friends to make the summer months that much for sociable and enjoyable.

List of Hobbies to try # 3: Learn to do something

There are so many activities on my summer bucket list that I want to do just because I need to learn to do them. For instance, learn how to cook (better) and learn how to knit. It can be as simple as learning a new workout routine or it can be a long term goal, like learning a new language. Either way, dedicatee your summer to trying new things.

List of Hobbies to try # 4: Get outside

Go hiking, biking, swimming, or running. Visit small towns around you that may have new things to offer. A city close to you may be having a cool festival that you can visit or a huge farmer’s market that has new products to enjoy. Summer time gives you the opportunity to venture outside and see new things. Put some time aside if you’re working and plan to go to a recently opened restaurant with some friends or family!

These are some popular activities that you can do in the summer to keep you busy and active. Remember, summer is a time to work hard and play hard. Spend time with your loved ones and be open to meeting new people and going to new places and getting out of your comfort zone. You won’t regret and you’ll make some memories that you will never forget.
